Box Canyon Falls in Ouray, CO. Until one visits, the depth of this canyon cannot be appreciated. We descended down about 6 flights of steel steps to reach the bottom. The force of water flowing down and out is so loud, it is impossible to speak and be heard without shouting.... and that was during the "low flow" season. On the right side of the photo one can see the remnants of mining left behind many years ago. How they ever got the equipment down there to begin with is beyond my imagination.

The Outlaw Bar in Ouray, CO was a favorite haunt of John Wayne during the filming of True Grit. He visited the bar nearly every night for dinner. If you are ever in Ouray, don't miss this opportunity for dinner...some of the best Italian gravy you will find!
