Mark is capturing our interruption of solitude. We felt so fortunate to be on the Catalyst, slowly idling along following the pods, instead of being on a huge ship, battling for a rail position in a futile attempt to view the whales. You can be sure the captain has alerted the passengers to watch the starboard side.

Jim made another new friend! The forest is very old with accumulations of logs and sticks covered with moss and lichen. Kind of creepy looking isn't it? This guy wasn't the only act in town either!

This beautiful mushroom, Chicken of the Woods is edible....that is if you are hungry enough! Found in the rainforests of Alaska and B.C. it is a "shelf" mushroom, which grows in large layers on trees.
