Our photography tour with Aaron Baggenstos of Aaron's Photo Tours, began in Seattle yesterday, Tuesday July 19, 2016 with everyone arriving at the Sheraton 4 Points ( a very nice hotel near the airport) and attending a meet and greet with our guide. 2 other couples completed our little group...Lin McAllister and Roger Lancaster along with Dorothy Murray and John Greco.
The next morning we traveled by van about 2 hours to Anacortes to board the ferry which then took us to Friday Harbor.
While we waited for the ferry, Aaron took us on a nature walk down by the water where I photographed this Blue Heron. I waited patiently for the opportune moment to click the shutter while he even more patiently waited for his dinner.A Great Blue Heron fishing in Moose Pond. May 2018

Fishing the mud hole
Bosque del Apache, NM, U.S. - February 06, 2021: This pond is drying up rapidly as there has been little precipitation from rain or snow melt to sustain the water levels. It's a stinky place with dying fish. In this image, a Great Blue Heron has plucked out one of the survivors from the muddy bog.
A sad reflection of climate change
Bosque del Apache, NM, U.S. - February 06, 2021: This muddy bog was once a lovely pond thriving with wildlife. Now, with limited water resources due to scarce rainfall and lower snowmelt levels, the refuge has had to limit the bodies of water it can sustain. Unfortunately, this pond has been allowed to dry up. In this image, a Great Blue Heron picks out a surviving fish among the stinking carcasses which litter the muddy water.
