Grizzly Bear #399, the most prolific and oldest mama bear in the history of Grand Teton National Park. She is still producing cubs, often twins and triplets, at the age of 23.
So beautiful but her life will be in danger this fall. Wyoming has reversed their ban of trophy hunting of grizzly bears outside of the park, stating that the bears are no longer endangered. This places #399 at high risk as her territory often extends near the park boundary and sometimes outside the border. Wildlife has no idea where the boundaries are, and many hunters want to be the one to claim her as their prize.
