LAKE CLARK NATIONAL PARK, ALASKA, UNITED STATES-JULY 13, 2019: A big sow walks through the tall grass towards us. She stops for a moment and makes eye contact with us. She is comfortable in our presence and does nothing to threaten us as we do nothing to threaten her. The bears here near Silver Salmon Creek Lodge, especially the females, feel safe around humans as they know the big, old, bad, boars will not come near them with people around.
