Wildlife of Yellowstone and Grand Teton in Winter 2017
Making the best of a sunny day.
Superior to the others, this big bull rests by himself in peace. These elk photos were taken in Grand Teton National Park which we visited before moving on to Yellowstone.

Two girls with a difference of opinion.
These two elk cows are probably having a tiff over their personal space.

Who..me? I didn't start it!
Startled by a noise, they forget their squabble for a moment.

Frosty Face
The frosty face is a result of the bison moving massive amounts of snow with their large face and head to find the grass below. This guy is pushing the snow into the river.

Portrait of a bison.
This fella looks fairly healthy and hopefully will survive the winter. Many don't.

Migration is the name of the game.
The refuge is vast with thousands of acres. Because the animals are not constrained by any boundaries, the elk continue to play follow the leader and migrate frequently.

Trotting up the road, he seemed not to mind our cameras clicking away.

This guy definitely had an agenda. He was on his way and nothing, not even our presence outside the snow coach, deterred him.

Stalking fish
Yellowstone coyote's paw must be freezing as he watches for fish.
