Maine 2014
Lobster for Lunch
This was our first lobster for the trip. No pagers for order pickups here.....from where our boat was moored, we heard order numbers called out well into the evening. Prerequisite for this job must include, "good set of lungs with loud projection". Maybe a good summer job for kids wanting to go into acting!
A Worried Captain
A mass of several , long nylon ropes, most likely from a lobster trap, was found attached to the propellers. The waters in many areas of Maine are littered with lobster traps. Navigating through them is like finding your way through a mine field.
Unfortunately, I missed the picture of the medusa.....the deck hands here are extremely efficient. By the time I retrieved my camera, the pile of multicolored ropes had disappeared.
Captain Len can be reassured.....there was no damage to the propellers. Not To Be Missed!
Wendell Gilley began carving birds from wood as a young boy. A plumber by trade, he eventually sold his business and dedicated the remainder of his life to crafting his realistic, beautiful birds. So desirable were his carvings, Abercrombie and Fitch bought as many of his productions as he could provide. Enjoyed by both children and adults, there is opportunity to practice your own carving skills at the museum.
