The bear on the right always submitted to the bear on the left - she did not want a fight. As soon as the other bear left, she would resume her fishing in the preferred spot until ornery bear returned - then the scene would replay over again.
Sometimes tempers got a little out of hand, but we never saw a major fight among the bears, just major posturing.

This sub-adult bear, probably between 3 and 5 years old, is out on his own for his first fishing season and is having a difficult time learning the ropes.
The younger bears were forced to fish below the falls where the fish were more difficult to see and catch.
Almost.....just a little out of reach.
The older bears such as this one, have the primo spots at the top of the falls where the fish jump right in front of their mouths.
Nailed it!
This fish jumped right into the jaws of the waiting bear.
Another great catch.

Patiently waiting for his mama to bring him a fish.
He doesn't appear to enjoy getting his tootsies wet in the cold water.
"Oh, that looks SO good. Can I have just a little bite?"
